Saying Yes

The ring that I picked out & still wear

After dating for 4 years, I didn’t know what to expect for our engagement. We never really had a mushy gushy relationship,

so I wasn’t expecting anything crazy, but knew that it would be something to remember. I knew around when it would happen because I had already picked out the ring (control freak, I know). With Logan though, I have learned there is always a surprise or something exciting around the corner, our engagement was no exception.

I met Logan at his house on a Monday night, (May 11, 2015). We jumped in the car, photographer in tow and headed to our first

stop. The first place we went was a lock on the canal that Logan used to go to when he was younger. We climbed to the top and chatted about the rest of the date and some of the places we were going to go.

The next stop was Lugia’s. This is a local ice cream place, that is a favorite of ours, and was also where we went on one of our first dates when I met his mom. We got our ice cream and continued on with the date.

Logan & I at our favorite ice cream spot

After Lugia’s Logan drove us to a parking lot. At first I was really confused because I didn’t know what we were doing there. He had scoped it out and found it was perfect for longboarding. I had always wanted to learn how to skateboard or longboard so he taught me for the first time on this date.

The fourth stop was an outdoor stage where Logan sang me a song that he wrote for me. The song was named after my favorite color at the time, turquoise.

After stop 4 I didn’t think there could be much more but we stopped at a local park for the Lilac Festival, which is a large festival in the city we live in. We stopped to smell the lilacs, they are obviously one of my favorite flowers. We then had a picnic that he had packed amongst the lilac bushes.

For the last stop, Logan drove us up to a lookout in the city that looks over the whole skyline. It was sunset and he brought me to the best view and got down on one knee. I was so excited when he pulled out the ring (even though I had picked it out). He said some things that I can’t remember and then asked me to marry him. I obviously said yes because now he is my husband. We planned our wedding for a year before we got married on May 15, 2016.

A spouse is such an important decision, Logan & I both believe that it is one that is for life. It hasn’t always been easy, but for us there is no other choice except for each other every day. Without having God in the middle of our relationship we wouldn’t still be standing today. The engagement and wedding are obviously beautiful snapshots of our lives but it has taken hard work, prayer and so much communication. At the end of every day I am so grateful for the man I said yes to.
